Jan 2006 - Present LOTE Co-Ordinator
Hawkesdale P12 College, Hawkesdale, SW Vic.
In this position I
- teach all year levels from P-12 (senior levels depends on student numbers, but I have experience with all levels except Yr 11)
- am responsible for the entire LOTE curriculum
- have organised and taken a trip to China and am planning a second one for December 2008
As a staff member of Hawkesdale P12 College I have also:
- attended several student camps
- assisted with supervision at school discos, sports days and excursions
- taught Drama at Year 7 level
- been a member of the School Council since March 2006
Prior to working at Hawkesdale College, I was employed on a part-time basis in the retail industry. My most recent position prior to entering the teaching profession was as a Sales Assistant and Bridal Registry Consultant at David Jones in Lt Bourke Street. FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED
Jan 2007 - Endeavour Language Teachers Fellowship China
This fellowship involved a three week trip to China with other Chinese teachers from around Australia. It involved two weeks of intensive Chinese language study in Shanghai. This was an incredible opportunity to network with teachers of Chinese around the country.
Nov 2006 - History Teachers Fellowship
I was awarded this fellowship based on my achievement in my History Method subject at Monash University. The fellowship involved a 10 day trip to Canberra History method students from Monash University and University of Tasmania. We were involved in many workshops about teaching history using the resources that the national capital provides, and on teaching history through stories. This was an incredible opportunity that inspired us all to be the best history teachers we could be.

Upcoming in 2008
May - ICTEV (ICT Education Victoria) Conference - I have submitted a workshop proposal that covers Web 2.0 applications for the LOTE classroom and am waiting to hear if I will be presenting.
July - CLTAV (Chinese Language Teachers Assoc of Vic) Annual Conference - I will be presenting a session called ‘I Will If You Do’ which focuses on classroom collaboration and projects that involve different aspects of Web 2.0 technologies.
2007
November - LOTE Busters Conference
At this conference I presented on my blog site technoLOTE - what resources I have put together for language teachers, and how to find resources to create Web 2.0 projects in language classrooms.
October - Moyne Cluster PD - Podcasting with Audacity and iTunes
At this workshop I showed staff from our Cluster schools how to make a podcast using Audacity and iTunes. Because I knew everyone would be at different levels of ability when it comes to technology, I created a series of instructional videos for participants to refer back to. You can see these videos on Teacher Tube or on my blog, technoLOTE.
July - Hawkesdale P12 College - Workshop on Social Bookmarking on the Web with Del.icio.us
At this session I showed fellow staff members what social bookmarking is, why you would do it and how to get started. I followed up this session with a blog post that can be found here.
